Captain John Sheriff is an experienced licensed captain and lifetime fisherman. John spent most of his youth boating and fishing in the sport fishing capital of the World; Islamorada and the Florida Keys. Captain Sheriff can be found fishing the Florida Keys frequently each year during the winter season honing his angling skills on Sailfish, Mahi, Kingfish, Tuna, Wahoo and other offshore species. As an accomplished and competitive bass angler and serving as President in a B.A.S.S. Federation Chapter, Captain Sheriff’s skill, techniques and accomplishments have served as a solid foundation for the knowledge he utilizes today, as a Charter Captain in the waters of New England . Captain Sheriff is also a member of the Rhode Island Party and Charter Boat Association.
Captain Sheriff calls Galilee, Rhode Island his homeport and has proven highly skilled in the capture of Bass, Blues, Fluke, Tautog, Sea Bass, Sharks, and Bonito. You can be assured you'll have an adventure of a lifetime with an experienced captain dedicated to making your trip both memorable and productive. You will enjoy his determination to put you on fish in his custom 29’ SeaVee center console vessel powered by twin 225HP Mercury Optimax outboards to provide the ultimate fishing experience.

Saltwater fishing is a leading sport in America’s smallest state… Rhode Island! Also known as the Ocean State, it offers a host of fishing opportunities to visitors and residents alike. From in-shore fishing in protected bay and shoreline areas of beautiful Narragansett Bay to exciting offshore game fishing. Rhode Island is a fisherman’s delight and a paradise for both the experienced angler and novice. The diversity and abundance of game fish found in Rhode Island waters provides angling excitement throughout the year. Most saltwater game fish are available for fishing year-round with some species having limited fishing seasons. The most popular saltwater game fish in the state is the Bluefish and Striped Bass with the bluefish considered the finest fighting fish in the Atlantic. Both these species can be caught from May through November. Rhode Island is also a key travel destination for trophy Striped Bass. Other species quite popular are the black sea bass, summer flounder, scup, winter flounder , tautog, the American eel, monkfish, haddock, weakfish and winter flounder.
For offshore action, anglers can pursue tuna, shark and cod. Giant Bluefin Tuna that have been recorded and exceed several hundred pounds have been known to visit the “Ocean State” waters in the late summer and fall.
Catch and release Shark fishing on light tackle is another thrilling and popular option as well.
