Rhode Island Fishing Charters with Captain John Sheriff
Fishing Testimonials
My family had never fished in the ocean before chartering with Captain Sheriff. It was windy that day, so the captain choose to fish some of wind protected waters of Narragansett Bay to ease our fears of getting sea sick. We caught keeper fluke, seabass and scup. This was our greatest experience of the summer and we booked a Bass trip for next year!!!! ~The Shaw family, Burlington, VT.
Captain Sheriff.'s Fishing Charters got my party of 4 to the Southwest corner of Block Island in half the time I am accustomed to . We all limited out on Bass in 3 hours with the largest at 45pounds and numerous blues in the mix. ~ AaronTjarick, Pittsfield, MA.
Captain Sheriff took my fishing to the next level by experiencing shark fishing. We caught and released Blue Sharks until I could not reel in any more due to fatigue. I utilized that knowledge and techniques and just recently caught a 6 foot Mako on my own boat. ~ Joe Amaral,Warwick , RI
My party chartered a night fishing trip out to Block Island. It was a beautiful evening until the fog moved in. We caught several bass and blues that night but I was most impressed with the Captains ability to get us back safely through the dense fog. We navigated over 18 miles in fog and the only thing I saw from the time we started back in was the dock when we got within 25 feet of it. ~Steve Wright, South Kingstown, RI
I chartered Captain Sheriff to target Bass and Blues in the Watch Hill, RI reefs. The excitement of catching 10 -25 pound fish on topwater lures was exilerating . I also discovered that the Fishing Charter vessel is a perfect fit for this style of fishing as well and you do not have to always troll or utilize live bait to catch these species. I am booked again for the fall bite and can hardly wait. ~Paul Zahn, Putnam Valley, NY
I have been on several offshore charters but I have never experienced the excitement I when fishing with captain Sheriff. We caught several Blue sharks and a 200 plus pound Mako. To round out the day, we had a 17 foot Tiger shark eat the chum bucket off the back of the boat and Captain Sheriff recommended that we call it a day. ~

I chartered Captain Sheriff to take me and my son out to Block Island for a night bass trip. We left at 4pm, had our limit and got before dark. Although I own my own boat and fish, I am impressed with Captains Sheriff's ability to find fish and the performance of his custom 29 foot Sea Vee Boat. ~Mike Jackson, Greenwich, CT

Night fishing Block Island with Captain Sheriff is a great adventure. My charter party always catch Striped Bass and Bluefish and we get there in about half the time it takes on any other charter I have been on. Although this 25 pound Bass was not the biggest fish of the evening, it was my biggest. ~Matt Harper, Pittsfield, MA.
I was thrilled to be a lucky winner of a free charter with Captain Sheriff’s Fishing Charters after submitting my name at his booth at the 2010 RISSA New England Saltwater Fishing Show. At the dock the morning of our trip I was greeted by a knowledgeable, friendly and polite captain and an impressive, safe and beautifully maintained boat. Our mid-May trip was for stripers in upper Narragansett Bay, and we had a fun and exciting day hunting them down using a variety of methods including top water casting and trolling. It’s great fun to reel in big stripers and I was certainly not disappointed. I have fished my whole life, both in the northeast and around the country, and can say Captain Sheriff runs his outfit very well, really knows his stuff, and goes out of his way to make one feel safe and comfortable. You’ll be guaranteed a fun, enjoyable day on the water, you’ll learn, you’ll laugh, you’ll catch fish and leave looking forward to your next trip.

Captain Sheriff introduced me to shark fishing and we have always caught sharks . I do remember a day where we had several blue sharks in the chum line and Captain Sheriff saw a Mako in the chum slick. Captain Sheriff had me hold the rod while he threw a bait to the Mako and within seconds the 7 foot Mako was hooked. The Mako Shark had completely broached the water at about 40 yards away and we successfully landed it after a 30 minute battle.
