Block Island Fishing Report

Jun 13, 2010

The North Rip of Block Island continues to be productive especially when the current conditions peak and provide a strong rip which bring the bait, Bass and Bluefish together. Umbrella rigs, wire line with parachute rigs, plastics, eels and top-water are all effective choices. Bluefish and Dogfish are scattered all over the North rip area. There are some Bass less than 28 inches showing up and bass over 20lbs are not very typical. Good Fluke bite around the Old Harbor area of Block Island but keeper fluke were tough to come by. Good Fluke bite with quality size fish near Point Judith. In addition to limits of bass by caught by anglers aboard Captain Sheriff's Fishing Charters this weekend, Rick Sustello of Coventry, RI caught a 27 inch 7.1 pound fluke near center wall of Point Judith to cap off the days catch.

A fair bite on Sea bass reported on the reefs outside Sakonnet River.
